Education

Understanding trauma and burn care at the point of injury

Massive Hemorrhage

Life-threatening bleeding is the leading preventable cause of death after a major injury. Rapid control with a tourniquet, wound packing and compressive bandages, when applied in a timely manner, saves lives.

Airway and Breathing

Once bleeding is controlled, a patent airway and an intact chest support ventilation. A nasopharyngeal airway and a vented chest seal address two common, correctable problems.

Stop and cool the burn, Clean (if able), Then Cover

Stop the burning process and cool the area with clean, potable, room-temperature water. Cooling early limits how deep the injury progresses. Wash with soap and water or thorughoughly rinse. Then cover with a non-adherent or hydrogel dressing to protect the wound and alleviate pain. The kit pairs Burnshield® hydrogel with non-adherent and transparent dressings for exactly this sequence.

Assess, Stabilize, and Move

Dressings, bandages, and tape secure wounds and the pictorial insert’s Rule of Nines helps estimate burn size. Gauge severity and move toward the next level of care confidently.

Simple Process

How to use the Trauma Response Field Pack

This pack contains professional grade medical supplies to treat bleeding and burns.

01

Stop the Bleed

Apply the C-A-T tourniquet to a bleeding limb, ideally 2-3 inches above the source of bleeding and never over a joint. Pack the wound with compressed gauze and wrap with a compressive bandage.

02

Open the Airway

If the patient is unresponsive but breathing, use a head-tilt-chin-lift or jaw thrust maneuver to open the airway. If indicated, place the nasopharyngeal airway to help keep the airway open.

03

Seal the Chest

For an open chest wound, apply a HyFin vent chest seal over the site.

04

Cool and Cover the Burn

For thermal injuries, stop the burning process and cool the area with clean, potable, room-temperature water, never ice. Rinse or wash with soap and water. Apply the Burnshield® hydrogel dressing or gel, then cover with a non-adherent or transparent dressing.

05

Dress, Secure, and Move

Cover remaining wounds, secure dressings, and move to definitive care.

Why preparedness matters

Major trauma and serious burns are life threatening and require immediate attention. In the minutes after an injury, the people already on scene make the difference. But only if they have the right tools within reach, and know how to use them.

The TRFP stages hospital-grade trauma kit and burn kit supplies in two sealed, grab-and-go pouches, so your load-out, vehicle, or fixed position is prepared. That’s MEDICINE. ANYWHERE.

Our why

Why we created the TRFP

The team behind Austere Medicine Consultants and AMC Medicine LTD has spent years operating in environments where the nearest hospital was hours away, or didn’t exist at all. Current practice of medicine contributes to our ongoing refinement of everything we offer. This experience, and strong shared values, means prioritizing the needs of you, our patients, and our customers.

AMC feels everyone should have access to the equipment necessary for immediate trauma response while maximizing value. Severe bleeding and serious burns are the two field emergencies where the first minutes, and the right supplies, shape the outcome. The TRFP pairs the MTFK and the TIFK so both are staged together: field medicine, built by doctors, for the kind of person who refuses to be a liability. The Professional Prepared Citizen; who shows up competent, prepared, and an asset to their community. That’s who we build for. If that’s you, you already belong here.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions — TRFP

What’s inside the Trauma Response Field Pack?
The TRAUMA RESPONSE FIELD PACK contains two complete FIELD KITS: the Major Trauma Field Kit (MTFK), a bleeding control kit with a C-A-T tourniquet, compressed gauze, compression dressing, vented chest seals, and a nasopharyngeal airway. And the Thermal Injury Field Kit (TIFK), a burn first aid kit built around Burnshield® hydrogel dressings and gel. Seventeen components in two sealed mylar pouches.
What does the TRFP treat?
It targets the leading survivable threats in the field: life-threatening bleeding, airway compromise, open chest wounds, and first- through third-degree burns. This med kit empowers you with tools to control hemorrhage, support ventilation, and properly address burns.
Why buy the bundle instead of the kits separately?
One order stages both capabilities together. Trauma and burns share the same environments: vehicles, ranges, job sites, wildfire country. The TRFP keeps the trauma kit and the burn kit packed side by side so there’s no gap when it counts. And bundling saves an average of 7% of the retail price if purchased separately.
Will it fit my IFAK, pack, or vehicle kit?
Maybe! It depends on what pouch you run. Both kits are sealed flat in mylar pouches designed to fit most IFAK pouches, including the Spritius Fanny Sak, the Ferro Roll 1, and any number of medical pouches. They easily fit into a ruck, carr-on or glove box. Keep them together in a fixed position..
Do I need a prescription?
No. Both kits in the pack are non-prescription. Order it, keep it packed, and it’s ready when you need it.
Should I put ice on a burn?
No. Ice and ice water can deepen the injury. Use cool (not cold) clean water to bring the heat down, then cover the wound.
When should I seek medical care?
Seek care for burns to the face, hands, feet, joints, or genitals; large or full-thickness (third-degree) burns; signs of infection such as spreading redness, pus, or fever; or any trouble breathing.
What’s included, and what does it cost?
One pack, one price. See “What’s inside the pack” above for all seventeen components. Ships within 2 business days.
