Why we created the EPFK

The team behind Austere Medicine Consultants has spent years operating in environments where the nearest hospital was hours away, or didn't exist at all. That experience revealed a consistent, critical gap in emergency preparedness: prescription medications.

Most people build emergency kits with bandages, splints, and OTC medications. But when a serious infection sets in, when nausea makes eating impossible, or when an allergic reaction escalates, those kits fall short. The EPFK was built to fill that gap with medically sound, field-tested solutions.

Born From Field Experience

The EPFK was developed by civilian physicians, Army healthcare providers, Special Forces medics, and Ranger medics with extensive experience managing medical emergencies in austere, resource-limited environments.

The Gap We Identified

Standard first-aid kits treat only surface-level injuries. Serious illness (infections, respiratory emergencies, severe GI illness, allergic reactions) requires real medications. Those medications were only accessible in clinical settings. Until now.

How does the consultation process work?
After placing your order, you will complete a patient intake form through our secure online system. This form collects your health history, current medications, and relevant medical information. A licensed provider will review your intake and determine if the EPFK medications are medically appropriate for you. This typically takes up to 2 business days.
How are the prescriptions issued?
Prescriptions are issued by licensed medical providers who review your patient intake information. These are legitimate prescriptions fulfilled through a licensed pharmacy. The prescriptions are included in the cost of your kit; there are no additional prescription fees.
Is the kit legal to travel with?
The EPFK contains legitimate prescription medications issued in your name. As with any prescription medications, travel regulations vary by destination. Domestic travel is generally straightforward. For international travel, we recommend checking the controlled substance regulations of your destination country and carrying copies of your prescriptions. It is your responsibility to comply with applicable laws.
How long do the medications last?
Medication shelf life varies by compound, but most medications in the EPFK have shelf lives ranging from 1 to 3 years from the date of dispensing. Expiration dates will be printed on each medication. You may return unopened expired medications to our Joliet office to receive a discounted refill or replenishment. We recommend reviewing and refreshing your kit annually as part of your preparedness rotation.
How should the kit be stored?
The EPFK should be stored in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. Do not expose medications to temperatures above 140°F (60°C). The optional Condition One Waterproof Case provides additional protection for field and travel use. Avoid storing in vehicles for extended periods during hot weather.
Who is eligible to purchase the EPFK?
The EPFK is currently available to adults, ages 18 and over. You will need to provide a valid state ID or driver's license as part of the verification process. Eligibility is subject to provider review based on your patient intake information.

Medical Consultation Process
  • After completing your purchase, a hold is placed on your credit card. You will receive a link to create a patient account and complete your intake form.
  • The intake form collects your health history, current medications, known allergies, and basic demographic information.
  • A licensed provider reviews your intake and evaluates whether the EPFK medications are medically appropriate for your profile.
  • Processing typically takes up to 2 business days. You will be notified by email once your review is complete.

Prescription Issuance
  • Prescriptions are issued by licensed providers in your state of residence.
  • Each prescription is legitimate and issued in your name, not generic or pre-written.
  • The consultation and prescription fees are included in the EPFK cost.
  • If a provider determines a medication is not right for your circumstance, an alternate will be provided, or the final cost of your kit will be adjusted. Once finalized, the hold amount will be adjusted, and your card will be charged the final amount (it will never be MORE than the advertised price).

Pharmacy Fulfillment and Shipping
  • Once prescriptions are issued, your pharmacy of choice will ship the medications, and AMC will ship the FIELD MANUAL, color-coded stickers, and Condition One case (if selected).
  • All shipments use non-descript, discreet packaging. Nothing on the outside indicates the contents.
  • Typical delivery time is within a few business days after prescription approval.
  • Tracking information is provided when available.
